The P.O. Ackley and Bill Hause custom Mauser sporter is a used rifle chambered in .224 Ackley Improved, with a 24.5-inch barrel. The supplier dates it to about the 1950s and describes it as built on an FN Mauser action with double set triggers. The stock is custom walnut, hand checkered with carved accents, and a Maxwell Smith Co. G88 scope with Redfield mount and rings comes with it.

This rifle suits a collector of custom hunting rifles, or a shooter who wants a documented piece of gunsmithing history. The supplier notes a good bore with strong rifling. The condition is listed as used; the supplier rates it very good, with light handling marks and wear on the recoil pad. Paperwork includes a letter from Hause, a feature in Kennedy's book and a chamber cast, since little is known about the caliber, and the rifle is a consignment item.
